WHAT WE TREAT
Achilles Tendinopathy
Achilles tendinopathy is a condition involving pain, stiffness, and swelling in the Achilles tendon, typically caused by overuse, repetitive strain, poor footwear, or sudden increases in activity. It often affects runners and active individuals. Symptoms tend to worsen with movement, especially climbing stairs, running, or jumping, and improve with rest and rehabilitation.
Common Causes of Achilles Tendinopathy
Overuse and Repetitive Stress
Performing high-impact activities like running or jumping repeatedly can overload the tendon and lead to irritation.
Sudden Increase in Activity
Rapidly increasing training intensity, distance, or frequency without proper conditioning puts excessive strain on the Achilles.
Tight Calf Muscles
When calf muscles are tight, they pull more strongly on the tendon, increasing tension and risk of injury.
Weak Lower Leg Muscles
Weak supporting muscles force the tendon to compensate, making it work harder than it should.
