TEAM
Sara Saud Alshawi
Physiotherapist & Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Sara grew up in Saudi Arabia, where she discovered her love for movement and the human body through mixed martial arts, karate, and taekwondo. Although uncommon for girls in Saudi Arabia at the time, participating in these sports made her feel empowered and curious. Her curiosity about how the body adapts and overcomes challenges led her to pursue physiotherapy and sports science.
Sara holds a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Sharjah (2021) and a Master of Science in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Edinburgh (2024). Her postgraduate work explored the intersection of sports performance, injury prevention, and physical adaptation—blending the clinical insight of a physiotherapist with the analytical, performance-driven approach of a strength and conditioning coach.
Her professional journey spans Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the UK, where she has gained extensive hands-on experience across musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary, paediatric, geriatric, and post-surgical rehabilitation. A defining chapter of her career was her time at the FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence in Dubai. Working within a fast-paced, high-performance environment strengthened her specialisation in musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation and deepened her interest in athlete-centred care.
Sara continues to advance her skills with additional certifications in dry needling, orthopaedic manual therapy, and advanced sports rehabilitation. Her treatment philosophy is guided by two key pillars: patient education and collaborative treatment management. She believes rehabilitation is most effective when patients feel truly informed, empowered, and supported throughout the process. Having experienced injury and recovery herself, she values empathy, clear communication, and evidence-based practice in every session.
Outside the clinic, Sara stays connected to her roots through MMA training and strength work at the gym. She also enjoys reading, perfume making, and experimenting in the kitchen, always with a carefully curated playlist in the background. Since moving to Edinburgh, she has fallen in love with the city’s warmth and community (even if the weather is still an adjustment). And despite travelling widely, she maintains that there’s nowhere more beautiful than Edinburgh on a sunny day.
