The ICF has defined coaching as “A partnership between the coach and client in a thought provoking and creative process that inspires the client to reach their maximum personal and professional potential”.
It is different from counselling in that it does not look back into the past, but instead looks at where you are right now in your life and how you can move forwards towards where you want to be (your goal).
It also differs from mentoring. In mentoring one person is the learner and one is the “expert” who delivers advice and educates. In coaching the expert is you, the client. You are the world’s foremost expert in you! The role of the coach is not to give advice but to guide, support and challenge. To create awareness and insight to enable you to make the changes that are right for you.
The Transform model of coaching is usually delivered over 6 x 1 hour sessions, generally over a 6 month period. This allows enough time for true reflection and positive changes. We would recommend completing the full 6 sessions if possible but a minimum of 4, although shorter packages are possible if you have a specific goal in mind. Our coach also sometimes offers group coaching which is a very popular and highly cost effective way of having coaching as the cost is reduced. In a group coaching session there are between 5-10 people who share similar goals. Even though the coaching is within a group setting it is still 100% about you as the individual and about your own goals and desires. Being in a group helps create more motivation, support and accountability and we also learn a lot from other people’s journeys. It is very important that you find a coach who is right for you. For that reason our Coach offers a free 20 minute discussion prior to starting any coaching. This enables you to make sure they are the right coach for you and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions about the process.
Coaching themes are tailored and specific to you but may include things such as weight loss coaching, health coaching, getting back to work after having children or finding clarity and direction in your career or life.
