Swedish / Remedial Massage Therapist
Suzannah enjoys hill walking, playing badminton, squash and cycling. Having led an active outdoor life in the Highlands, she also has an added interest and experience in horse riding and carriage driving plus kayaking too. This active lifestyle and her work in the Health Care Sector have developed her interest in anatomy, physiology and pathologies, which inevitably led to her career in Massage Therapy.
Suzannah Love enthusiastically joins the Edinburgh based Active Health Therapy Clinic to practice Remedial Massage Therapy alongside her other specialities. She first trained with Scottish Massage Schools in Edinburgh, in Swedish Massage in 2014, going on to complete her qualifications in Remedial and Sports Massage. She is an empathetic practitioner as a qualified health professional with experience in hospitals in the Highlands and in the community in Edinburgh.
Suzannah is also a registered member of the Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation (SMTO) and continues to broaden her experience and develop her skills alongside physiotherapists and other massage therapists in Edinburgh. She is always seeking to learn and develop new skills and continue in professional development. Since qualifying with her diplomas she has also completed courses in Muscular Energy Techniques and Hands Free Massage Techniques (2015). The hands free techniques allow deep, sweeping, nurturing strokes to be delivered to clients whilst protecting the smaller more vulnerable joints of the therapist.
Suzannah’s deep tissue and relaxation treatments are all tailored to the individual needs of her clients and draw on her wide variety of techniques. These include: effleurage, petrissage, frictioning, compression, pulsing and tapotement. Soft tissue release, myofascial release, muscular energy technique, neuro-muscular techniques as well as trigger point therapy are also used.
She has given regular treatments and advice to a local rugby team in the Highlands and has also worked with racing cyclists during and after the ‘Strathpuffer’ 24 hour mountain bike race in Strathpeffer. Her interest in sports massage also led Suzannah to work alongside other therapists treating runners taking part in the Inverness Marathon.
Suzannah’s experience in massage therapy has shown fantastic results treating a variety of conditions from fibromyalgia, stress, IBS, frozen shoulder and repetitive strain injuries. The balance between relaxation and remedial is met during each treatment proving a thorough and enjoyable experience!
