Louise Fowler

Louise Fowler

Swedish/ Relaxation Massage Therapist

Louise has a keen interest in health, sport and wellbeing after catching the fitness bug back in 1997.  Having spent the first 5 years working in a factory after leaving school, Louise decided to follow her dream and went back to college in Edinburgh, gaining a HNC qualification in Health, Fitness and Exercise along with an Exercise to Music and Gym Instructor qualifications.

After completing her course in 2002, Louise emigrated to South Africa where she became established as a Fitness Consultant/Personal Trainer on a one-to-one basis working personally with clients in their own homes and in a private studio.

Her passion for helping people achieve their fitness goals continued after returning to the UK in 2005, where Louise expanded her knowledge and evolved in the fitness industry at various health clubs in Edinburgh.  This included exclusive power plate training at a private personal training studio.

Louise became interested in Swedish massage when working as a personal trainer in Edinburgh. Convinced of the benefits massage can offer, she wanted to learn the skills to help aid clients recovery from training and prevent injuries.   Her continued interest in Massage Therapy grows through the years whilst having regular massages herself to help recover from injuries and to relax and unwind from the built up tension and stress in life.

Louise qualified in Swedish Massage (VTEC) in June 2013. While studying massage at Stevenson College in Edinburgh, Louise learnt about Anatomy and Physiology, soft tissue techniques for relaxing or stimulating the body and an indepth practical and theoretical treatment approach to each individual.

Since qualifying in Swedish Massage, Louise has continued to further her massage knowledge and techniques with an accredited course in Deep Tissue Massage.  In addition, her continual passion for body work and thriving interest in massge therapy lead her to complete her ‘hands-free’ massge course which allows a strong yet flowing treatment also kind to the therapists body.  The control of techniques and  depth of pressure is a lovely balance that Louise achieves!  Louise endeavours to continue expanding her knowledge and skills with future courses and with professional development at Active Health, Edinburgh.

She is very passionate about her work as a massage therapist and focused on providing the highest standard of treatments using Swedish and Deep Tissue massage techniques with the sole aim of helping people to feel more relaxed or stimulated, help improve general well being by reducing pain and stress and facilitating healing.

Each person has their own needs and Louise ensures that each person is looked at as an individual and that treatments are catered to you and your body.

Louise thrives to keep herself in shape and is currently focused on strength training and loves nothing more than lifting weights and pushing herself in the gym in order to achieve her own fitness goals.

Throughout her years training, she has enjoyed a variety of different sporting challenges such as rock-climbing (which saw her sleeping overnight tied to a small ledge 3,000 ft up the north face of Ben Nevis), marathon running (including 3 Edinburgh marathons with a personal best of 3hr 13mins) and martial arts.  This personal experience adds a heightened understanding to the trials and tribulations involved in the sporting industry and the physical strain put on the body.  Louise understands the impact that training has had on her own body, and how massage benefits her ability to speed recovery, reduce muscle soreness and facilitate injury healing.
